Melatonin for restful sleep! – Part1

Melatonin is also called the "sleep hormone" because it works on the body's internal clock to switch between wakefulness and sleep, inducing natural sleep.
In the morning, exposure to sunlight advances the hands of the body clock in the brain, resetting the body clock and guiding it to a state of activity.
In addition, the body clock commands the body to stop secreting melatonin. Melatonin is secreted again about 14 to 16 hours after awakening, on command from the body clock. Gradually, melatonin secretion increases, and its action lowers the deep body temperature, which leads to a state suitable for rest and makes us feel sleepy.

Hypnotic action
Melatonin is a sleep hormone secreted by the pineal gland in the brain and plays a role in adjusting the sleep cycle in accordance with the rhythm of daily life.
Melatonin secretion decreases during the daytime when the body is exposed to sunlight and increases at night when it gets dark.

Adjustment of the body's internal clock and rhythm of life
The secretion of melatonin reaches its maximum level about 15 to 16 hours after waking up in the morning. The time and amount of melatonin secretion is regulated by the body's internal clock. If we continue to live an irregular lifestyle or stay indoors during the day without sunlight, our body clock will be out of balance, and we will not be able to secrete melatonin properly, resulting in a state in which we cannot fall asleep at the time we should. Melatonin's ability to regulate the body clock has attracted attention, and melatonin supplements and sleeping pills are used to treat insomnia and other sleep disorders and to eliminate jet lag.
